Home Care Essentials

You might be wondering if it’s time to consider home care. What is home care and how can it help you?

As the name suggests, home care is simply care which allows you to live safely and comfortably at home. Home care services include a variety of health-related and support services for elderly or disabled individuals who need assistance with household duties, personal care, and/or more skilled medical or therapeutic care.

There are many reasons people look into home care. Sometimes home care services are short-term solutions for assistance after a minor injury or a hospitalization. In other cases, home care is a long-term alternative to requiring nursing home or other institutional care. For some, home care is essential for their safety. For others home care is more about comfort. Whatever your reason for considering home care, we have options to help you.

Getting Started

When you contact Reliable Community Care, we have responsive and skilled professionals who will listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and tell you more about our services. For our private pay patients, who have a choice of caregiver options, our Patient Advocate is available to schedule an appointment to meet with you privately in the comfort of your own home. She will listen to your needs and requests, and assist in pairing you with one of our experienced caregivers.

We have male and female caregivers who speak a variety of languages available 24 hours a day and seven days a week. They are available for a minimum of 20 hours a week up to 24 hours of around the clock care. We have on-call coordinators available 24 hours a day.

Payment Options

At RCC we believe that home care does not need to be expensive to be high quality. That is why you will find our rates among the lowest in our industry among New York home care agencies. We charge $18 an hour with a 20 hour minimum per week. Unlike other agencies, our nursing assessments are offered free of charge. We require a one week deposit on your first day of service, which will be used your final week of service. We bill on a weekly basis and accept payment by credit card or personal checks.

Your First Day of Caregiver Services

Before your caregiver services start, your Coordinator will call and introduce herself. She will tell you the name of your new caregiver and answer any questions you have about your care. On your first day of service, your caregiver will arrive at your home at the predetermined time you specified.

Meeting Our Nurse

Our visiting nurse will also visit you on your first day of service. She will provide a thorough physical assessment and safety check of your home. She will ask you questions about the types of assistance you need and discuss her professional recommendations. Based on her assessment and your feedback, she will develop a personal Plan of Care. The Plan of Care will clearly identify all tasks that our caregiver will provide and how often these tasks are to be completed. It will specify what days and hours of care you will receive, and provide basic information about you, including your goals of care.
